Project Spotlights

A deep dive into how we solved specific design challenges for our Dehradun clients.

Heritage Door Restoration on Rajpur Road

Heritage Door Restoration on Rajpur Road

The Challenge

A 100-year-old Burma Teak main entrance door that had suffered significant rot due to mountain-side dampness.

The Execution

We meticulously removed the rotted sections and performed 'dutchman repairs' using matching vintage teak. The door was then stripped of 20 layers of old paint and finished with a breathable Tung oil and wax blend to protect against the Mussoorie-bound mist.

The Result

Restored the original grandeur while adding modern weather-stripping to prevent draft and moisture ingress.

Minimalist Penthouse Wardrobes in Pacific Hills

Minimalist Penthouse Wardrobes in Pacific Hills

The Challenge

A modern penthouse on Mussoorie Road requiring floor-to-ceiling storage that didn't feel bulky.

The Execution

We utilized 'handle-less' push-to-open technology and integrated LED internal lighting. The exterior was finished in a ultra-matte soft-touch laminate that resists fingerprints—essential for the large glass-fronted rooms of the penthouse.

The Result

14-foot tall seamless storage units that look like architectural walls rather than furniture.

Corporate Fit-out for Tech Hub on GMS Road

Corporate Fit-out for Tech Hub on GMS Road

The Challenge

Designing ergonomic workstations and acoustic wall paneling for a 50-person office space.

The Execution

We used high-density fiberboard (HDF) with sound-dampening felt backing. The workstations were designed with integrated wire management and adjustable monitor heights to promote employee wellness.

The Result

A 30% reduction in ambient office noise and a highly professional, modern work environment.

Solid Wood Decking in Sahastradhara

Solid Wood Decking in Sahastradhara

The Challenge

An outdoor poolside deck requiring material that could withstand Dehradun's extreme sun and heavy monsoon rain.

The Execution

We selected FSC-certified Ipe wood, known for its extreme density. The deck was installed using hidden fasteners to prevent water pooling around nail holes, and treated with a high-UV protection oil.

The Result

A stunning outdoor space that requires minimal maintenance and remains cool under the Dehradun summer sun.

Anatomy of a Project

Every masterpiece we deliver is the result of a rigorous, technical workflow that prioritizes structural integrity above all else.

1

Timber Selection & Grading

We start at the source. For solid wood projects, we select logs with minimal knots and straight grain patterns. This ensures that the wood will not twist or bow as it continues to age in your home.

2

Moisture Calibration

Using digital hygrometers, we measure the moisture content of the wood. For the Dehradun Valley, we target a benchmark of 10%. If the wood is too wet, it goes back into our seasoning shed for another 4-6 weeks.

3

Precision Joinery Fabrication

Instead of butt-joints held by screws, we use Mortise and Tenon or Domino joints. This mechanical interlock ensures the piece stays together for decades, even under heavy daily use.

4

Multi-Stage Sanding

We sand every surface through five different grit levels—starting at 60 and finishing at 400. This opens up the wood pores perfectly to receive the final finish.

5

Atmospheric Finishing

Finishing is done in a dust-controlled environment. Whether it's a high-gloss PU or a natural wax finish, we apply it in multiple thin coats to ensure deep penetration and a flawless surface.

6

Final Stress Test

Before delivery, we load-test our shelves and drawers to ensure zero deflection. Only after passing our 50-point checklist does the project leave our Adhoiwala workshop.

The Doon Style Guide

Dehradun's interior design landscape is evolving. We're seeing a shift away from "cookie-cutter" catalog furniture toward pieces that have a sense of place. For homeowners in Dalanwala and Vasant Vihar, the trend is "Heritage Contemporary"—mixing antique Teak structures with modern, slim-profile metal accents.

In the newer developments like Pacific Hills and Siddhartha Enclave, the demand is for "Biophilic Minimalism." This involves using light-toned woods like Ash and Oak, paired with plenty of indoor greenery and natural stone. Our custom furniture is designed to bridge these two worlds.

A critical design element for any Doon home is Monsoon Resilience. We advise our clients on choosing finishes that don't just look good, but also protect against the intense humidity of the valley. This is why we've seen a massive surge in the popularity of water-based PU finishes that allow the wood to breathe while remaining water-repellent.

Expert Recommendation:

"For homes near the Litchi orchards, we recommend using solid Sal wood frames. The natural oils in local Sal provide an extra layer of protection against the specific fungal spores found in high-moisture orchard areas."
